Here are some favorite investing and economic gurus I’ve been reading for years (*note that Suze Orman or that crackpot Kramer are not on this list):
Mish’s Global Economic Trend Analysis (Amazing blog, updated several times a day with the latest economic and market news along with excellent analysis.)
Lew Rockwell (Free-market, anti-State, libertarian-leaning news and commentary. A must read for anyone desiring true economic freedom.)
Kitco (Want to know the spot price of gold or what the Japanese Yen is doing right now? Go here.)
The Sovereign Society (Whether you can spell "sovereign" or not — I just realized that, sadly, I cannot — this is a great resource for the logistics of moving money over seas. At least get their free newsletter which is pretty darn informative by itself.)
Abolish The Fed (Okay, not really an economic site but it’s a brilliant idea anyway.)
Must Reads (All links are to Amazon, which has the best deals and where I personally shop for books.):
Empire of Debt: The Rise of an Epic Financial Crisis
(A great primer and classic on how our economy go to be so rotten — to the absolute core.)
The New Empire of Debt: The Rise and Fall of an Epic Financial Bubble
(Why our economy is rotten Part II. A sequel to the above with fantastic info. and insight on the current economic crisis.)
Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse
(The title says it all. Hint: This book does not have a happy ending.)
What Has Government Done to Our Money? Case for the 100 Percent Gold Dollar
Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics
(I read this book in my early twenties. It was invaluable in helping me to realize that average, everyday peeps can understand the hows and why of the economy, contrary to what many want us to believe.)
The Disciplined Investor: Essential Strategies for Success
(If you’re going to dabble in the markets, at least have an idea how to do it successfully.)
Confessions of a Subprime Lender: An Insider’s Tale of Greed, Fraud, and Ignorance
(Movie of the week material. An eye-opener certainly.)
The Great Housing Bubble: Why Did House Prices Fall?
The Monetary Elite vs. Gold’s Honest Discipline
(This will explain to you why out-of-control elitist governments shun gold … and why you should maybe buy a few ounces.)
